Reasons for split ends?

Hi I don't colour my hair or anything my mixed race hair is naturally curly(corkscrews and spirals).

my regime: almost 2 months I didn't use my moisterizing conditioner such as aubrey organics honeysuckle 100% natural but instead I used only the cheap kind cond for 2 something. My hair became so dry and puffy.Only last week I got my moist conditioner and I started to detangle with the brush again (brush only once a wk.I detangle(brush or fingers) with a cheap cond, rinse, then add my moist cond, leave on then rinse. Before I use to spray my unwash hair with a water bottle to brush it before I wash my hair).I shampoo with moisterizing AO honeysuckle.

Around late feb to early march I trim my hair with my cheap hair scissors I got for 1 something and now I notice I have spilt ends.;( .

Reasons for split ends?
Well, some of the reasons you have been having so many split ends are that you weren't using good shampoo and conditioner. You said you were using the stuff for 2 something. That definitely effects the outcome of your hair. Also, you really shouldn't be cutting your own hair. Especially with scissors you got for a dollar that aren't meant to cut hair. Scissors that are meant for cutting hair are much sharper than those that you can buy in the store. So, if you keep up with your good conditioner and get regular trims [every 6-8 weeks] then your hair won't get as many split ends. PS... It is not true that if you brush your hair when it's wet that it damages it. Why else would the hairstylists shampoo your hair before cutting it? To damage it more? I don't think so.
Reply:You need to get a licensed professional to do your trimmings instead of using a dull pair of scissors to do it yourself.
Reply:1] you must use decent conditioner - there are plenty that aren't expensive

2] NEVER brush wet hair - it is very fragile when wet, and will split/break

3] don't brush at all for a while - comb out tangles, and massage scalp before shampooing

4] must trim off split ends - they will progress up the hair shaft

5] shampoo, conditon; then wrap in towel [ no rubbing dry - will damage hair ].Comb with a wide tooth comb.

6] other culprits: blow dryer, flat iron, curling iron, bristle rollers, alcohol in styling products
Reply:it could be from straightening or from blow drying your hair when its wet, that causes really bad split ends. or combing it when its wet also.
