What insect is this?

I live in central Texas, and yesterday I saw an insect that I have never seen before. At first I thought it was a baby hummingbird because it flew exactly like one, was about the same size, had an inch long needle beak type thing and was sucking from the honeysuckle flowers. Upon closer examination, I saw that it was definatley an insect, and that it was brown and white striped. Any clues to what it could be?

What insect is this?
Possibly a Sphinx Moth.

Wiki it.
Reply:Did this look like the insect ?http://bugguide.net/node/view/11975 if so it was a hummingbird clearwing moth, if not you can also browse through the sphingidae pictures here :http://bugguide.net/node/view/193/bgimag... .

If it was very small it could have also been a bee fly which also hovers arround flowers to feed http://bugguide.net/node/view/81786/bgim...
Reply:It was probably a hummingbird moth. There are different varieties, different colors. They look like a humming bird when flying but when you look closer they have a tail that looks like a lobster tail and they have 6 legs, and a stylus type appendage for drinking nectar.
